Flashback Friday! 80's Home Games Addition

                                                       Hello Peeps...It's Friday
                                                ((((FLASHBACK FRIDAY)))))
                                             80'S HOME GAMES ADDITION
(email subscriber's please view FULL blog by clicking on my Title)

FIRST, I must give Kuddo's to DR. SEUSS today...(You can learn more about the famous author Here)
On March 2nd, on Dr. Seuss's birthday, Read Across America takes place, and is the Nations largest reading celebration. I did take a few moments that day to run upstairs to my kids bookshelf and pull out my top 2  favorite books by Dr. Seuss~The Cat In The Hat & Green Eggs and Ham~and re-read them for the umpteenth time.  I have all of my copies of Dr. Seuss books hidden in my kids' book shelf along with their copies(much newer, I must say)and when I do take time to clean their book shelf, those books are the ones that do get opened and re-read while cleaning.  It's always a treat to read Dr. Seuss's books...who doesn't want to read the rhyming pose about Sam I Am or Green Eggs and Ham?  I loved 'em as a child and still love'em today
OK!  Now let's chat a bit about my 3 favorite games from the 80's...Home Addition.(that means you play them at home)                                First, the Rubik's Cube!
I LOVED playing with this hand held puzzle
and here's someone quite younger than me who can solve the darn
thing in 114 SECONDS
what the?
Now, although I can't understand a word anyone is saying
I was mezmerized by her and her ability to do this amazing task
She has my utmost Respect!
I can remember sitting for Hours trying to solve the puzzle(and enjoying the challenge)
but NEVER did I solve in 114 seconds!  How cool is that?!
Hmm, I wonder what ever happend to good ol Rubik...not sure he made the cut when we moved
from our small town home in Arlington to just a bit bigger town Rushville(where I reside today)
That's sad...Kids, if you have special games you play that you love, hang onto them...you just might want
to re-play your past someday.
If you'd like to learn more about this awesome hand held puzzle click Here
NEXT, let's talk about Connect Four
Connect Four is a two-player game in which the players first choose a color and then take turns dropping their colored discs from the top into a seven-column, six-row vertically-suspended grid. The object of the game is to connect four of one's own discs of the same color next to each other vertically, horizontally, or diagonally before one's opponent can do so...I was Sooooo good at this.  Anyone I would challenge in our Arlington home had their work cut out for them~I remember playing alot with my Dad.  Now, I will say he's a smart fella' so I, too, had my work cut out for me when it came to trying to out smart my good ol' dad. An interesting fact about my good ol Dad is~along with playing Connect Four and he showing me up now and then he also enjoyed teaching me a thing or two about mowing the lawn...while chewing Redman Chewing tobacco...
...but, I'll save that story for another blog.
I did enjoy chewing this with my dad...shh, don't tell!

Now, my last and Final favorite "home" game was UNO.
You remember the game, don't you?  Heck it's still popular today...but I'll bet you didn't know that
the game was originally developed in 1971 by Merle Robbins in Reading, a suburb of Cincinnati.
COOL...right around my neck of the woods.
Did you know there are 108 cards to a deck and that each player plays with 7 cards?
I didn't even have to look that up(seriously)...it's embedded into my mind, body and soul...cause I've played
it so much...and still do with my daughter whom owns her own deck of UNO "Carebear Style" cards.
They aren't as cool as the ones I owned as a kid...and I did come across a few scattered somewhere at Mom and Dad's house
(obviously, some made the cut in our move to a little bit bigger town after I graduated)
Like I mentioned, My daughter owns the Carebear theme UNO but did you know they
also have Coca-Cola UNO and Hannah Montana UNO and Barbie UNO
and Elvis UNO and Nascar UNO...that's just a few themes...list goes on and on.
They also have different type of UNO games like UNO flip and UNO Dice and hey, for the video game
freaks out there, they have UNO on Playstation and Gameboy and Xbox.
Heck, they even have a World Series for UNO

So, see...UNO is a great game for everyone of all ages

Well, that about wraps up my 3 favorite play-at-Home games~80's style.
May you all think back to your childhood days of when Games(arcade and hand-held or board games)
were the way you used to pass the time and spend time with the ones you love.
And may you all never forget one of my all time favorite quotes from a great actor and an awesome
80's movie
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
